2007 Pembrokeshire Porpoise Survey

Dolphin and Whale Watching

As the seas and oceans around the world warm up we are starting to see a whole new plethora of aquatic creatures ending up in the waters off the coast of Pembrokeshire. Included in this are the Dolphin, Porpoise and Whales. Milford Haven has a resident population of Harbour Porpoise, whilst Common Dolphin are common visitors in increasingly large numbers.

We regularly see both these species during our ‘Shearwater Safari’s’, Whales however require a little more effort. Our Cruiser ‘Liberty of Wight’ is available to take you to the Celtic Deeps in the Irish Sea, where you stand a good chance of seeing these fantastically majestic creatures first hand. These trips are available as ‘live aboard’ or on a daily basis.

As all of these species remain ‘wild’, obviously it is impossible to guarantee seeing them, but our Cox’s have worked with the Sea Watch Foundation in Oxford to enable them to judge the best conditions and sea areas to spot these animals.
